Additional Homestead Exemption for Deployed Service Members

Florida voters have approved an additional 2011 homestead property tax exemption for certain members of the Armed Forces under Section 196.173, Florida Statutes.

Members or former members of any branch of the United States military or reserves, the United States Coast Guard or reserves, or the Florida National Guard deployed on active duty during the previous calendar year, outside the continental United States, Alaska, or Hawaii, in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom or New Dawn may apply.

Completed application, DR-501M should be returned along with a copy of DD Form 214, Record of Foreign Service or other qualifying documents. The filing deadline is June 1^st, however applications received by September 1^st will be considered due to the limited legislative timeline.
